Guppy is the ~800 beginner bot. It attacks with conviction and defends by accident — scholar-style checks, one-move threats, and pieces left en prise after the attack fizzles.
It will check you because checking feels like progress. The follow-up is often missing, which is where you collect material.
How to beat them
- Parry the check, then look at every hanging piece. Guppy’s attack usually leaves something behind.
- Do not panic-sacrifice. A calm developing move that also defends is usually the engine’s choice here.
- Three wins unlock Park Regular. If you stall, play Best Move Rush to sharpen one-move tactics.
